I purchased a Dell PC in July 2016 with Windows 10 already installed. Recently, the PC has been freezing and will eventually go to the BSOD and will display one of 2 messages.
The message most frequently displayedis 'DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION.' The other message that I receive at times is 'VIDEO SCHEDULER INTERNAL ERROR.' Since this began I have done system restores and have also reinstalled windows completely, but the error persists.
I have read through several conversationsin the community and tried following the advice that I found, but have not been able to resolve this problem. Any asssitance would be greatly appreciated. Ok, this is actually for my husband's computer, He just had a new SSD drive, memory and windows 10 pro installed on his computer. Alienware Aurora R4, and it worked fine for a couple of hours. Then it would lock up while watching videos, doesn't matterif he uses Chrome or Edge.
Tried looking up fixes for it, and one IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, he doesn't have. Only one controller is unrecognized and we can't find an update for it. I installed driver booster to update all drivers, uninstalled and reinstalledhis graphics card: Nvidia GTX 690, and it still happens. Can someone help?Moved from:(Windows / Windows 10 / Devices & drivers / PC). Hi,Check with the maker of the SSD and ensure it has the latest firmware - new products often come with early stage versions. Also be sure the computer has the latest BIOS and chipset driversfrom Alienware.Be sure all the fans are working - worried something was loosened during the recent installs.
Does the unit work better if it has been off a couple of hours? Try adding a fan blowing into the intake of the case as a test.Alienware - Support - Drivers and DownloadsAlienware - Community Forum - ClubHope this helps.-Rob Brown.
